Adjectives: Das Haus ist groß / ein großes Haus
When describing yourself, your home, or your city, you need adjectives: big, small, beautiful, expensive. In German, adjectives are used in two ways. After the verb 'sein', the adjective does not change at all ('Das Haus ist groß.'). Before a noun, however, it takes an ending ('ein großes Haus'). At A1, learning the endings in Nominativ first is sufficient.
