Perfekt (Introduction to the Past Tense)
In spoken German, the Perfekt is almost always used to talk about the past (the Präteritum is mostly used in written language, in newspapers and books). By the end of A1 you should be able to form simple Perfekt sentences, because in the Sprechen exam you may be asked to talk about something you did in the past (what you did yesterday, where you went last weekend).
